Get Your
Snowshoes On * Recommended by Travel with Humor * While traveling in Maryland, I was introduced to an intriguing restaurant chain: The Bugaboo Creek Steak House. This is apparently a favorite steak house of the locals, and I could definitely see why! Decorated in the style of a Canadian Hunting Lodge, the restaurant screamed "bring your kids here" as soon as I entered. Seriously. I heard it. Luckily, my nine-year old son was with me, so the restaurant gods were appeased. The animatronic animals on the walls and ledges throughout the restaurant kept us both entertained and searching during our meal for the next surprise... who knew which animal would say what next? From a flapping fish on the wall to a huge moose and bison, these talking heads gave us a giggle every time they started talking and moving. Aside from the non-living entertainment, if you love a good steak and hefty portions, you'll want to visit the Bugaboo Creek Steak House. I can honestly say that the first time I went here (yes, we returned on a second visit--we loved it that much), I had the best steak I've ever eaten. I left without even thinking about dessert, I was so full. If you have a birthday, this is definitely your destination of choice. An entire gaggle of staff come to your table and sing (loudly) to you, complete with a moose puppet. When they start chanting "Kiss The Moose! Kiss The Moose!" after their song, the birthday person has a picture taken as they 'kiss the moose', and the entire restaurant claps wildly. Bugaboo Creek Steak House is definitely both kid-friendly and adult-friendly. The efficient and knowledgeable staff bustle quickly and keep you entertained, filling you up until you waddle out of the restaurant, replete. A little side note: If you are looking for a quiet, romantic spot for dinner, you will probably want to look elsewhere--this place is fun in a big, loud, family-type way.
